Metal to Metal Ball Valves Characteristics

Metal-seated ball valves are designed to handle higher service temperatures compared to general soft-seated ball valves. While soft-seated ball valves are limited to a maximum working temperature of 400°F, KOSEN's metal-seated ball valves are capable of withstanding temperatures up to 800°F.

KOSEN's metal-seated ball valves incorporate a seat spring structure that ensures reliable sealing by pushing the upstream seat tightly against the ball surface, even under low pressure. The maximum allowable seat leakage for these valves is classified according to ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class V. Additionally, these valves are designed to be fire-safe with a metal-to-metal contact between the ball and the seat, which ensures an unconditional fire-safe function. A flexible graphite gasket is used to prevent fluid leakage between the body and seat, or the body and adapter, even in high-temperature environments, further enhancing the fire-safe performance.

Other sealing components, including stem packing, are also fire-safe, preventing external leakage and ensuring that all parts of the valve remain undamaged under high-temperature conditions. Like other ball valves, metal-seated ball valves are equipped with a blow-out-proof stem and an anti-static device for added safety.

The ball surface of these valves is treated using advanced spraying technology, ensuring maximum hardness up to HRC78. The valve seat is similarly processed to achieve a hardness of HRC72. The precision grinding of the ball and valve seat surfaces ensures optimal sealing performance. These valves are suitable for applications involving high-temperature, high-pressure water, steam, petroleum, coal, fibers, corrosive media, and media containing particles.

KOSEN metal-seated ball valves come in two designs: floating ball and fixed ball. The uniform spring load applied to the seat ring forms a reliable seal with the ball's spherical surface. In low-pressure conditions, a sealing grease injection system can be incorporated between the ball and valve seat to further enhance sealing.

In summary, KOSEN's metal-seated ball valves are built to offer reliable, fire-safe sealing in extreme conditions, making them ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure applications and media with challenging properties.
