When the Twin Seal Orbit General Valve is fully open, the plug channel aligns with the valve body channel, ensuring the minimum pressure drop. Turning the handwheel rotates the plug towards the valve direction, which in turn drives the valve disc to rotate 90 degrees. As the handwheel continues to turn, the plug is pressed downward, causing the valve to open on both sides and pressing the valve disc tightly against the valve seat to close the valve.
When the handwheel is rotated in the opposite direction, the plug first moves upward, releasing the valve disc from the valve seat. Continued rotation of the handwheel drives the plug to rotate the valve disc by 90 degrees, aligning the plug channel with the valve body channel, returning the valve to its fully open state.
