Introduction of Fiber Optic Patch Cord

Fiber optic patch cord is used to connect equipment and cable, which has a thick protection casing, and is generally used in the connection of transmitter and the terminal box.

1. Types of fiber optic patch cord
According to different transmission media, the patch cord can be divided into: single- mode silicon cord, multi-mode silicon cord and other cord with plastic as transmission media. According to different structure of connector, it can be classified into: FC, SC, ST, LC, MTRJ, MPO, MU, SMA, FDDI, E2000, DIN4 and D4 etc. And the FC-FC、SC-SC、ST-ST、LC-LC、FC-SC、FC-ST、FC-LC、SC-ST、SC-LC patch cord are commonly seen in daily life.

Single-mode fiber patch cord: usually, the cord is yellow and the connector and protection casing is blue, and its transmission distance is longer.

Multi-mode fiber: generally, the cord is orange or gray and the connector and protection casing is black or beige, but its transmission distance is shorter.

2. Matters need attention when using fiber optic patch cord
The wavelength of both ends must be consistent, in other words, the optical module in both ends of patch cord must be the same, and a simple way to distinct is the color of optical modules should be same. Generally, the short distant optical module should use multi-code cord, namely the orange cord; and the long distant optical module should use single- code cord, namely the yellow cord. In this way, it can ensure the accuracy of data transmission.
