How to Prevent Rust on the Surface of Carbon Steel Pipes?

We can use the following methods to avoid rust on the surface of carbon steel pipes:
1. Use solvents and emulsions to clean the surface of the steel pipe to remove grease, dust, lubricants and similar organic substances. However, they cannot remove rust, oxide scale, and welding flux on the steel surface, so it is only used for auxiliary means of anti-corrosion.

2. Rust removal by tools mainly uses wire brushes and other tools to polish the surface of the steel, which can remove loose or raised oxide scale, rust and welding slag. The rust removal of hand tools can reach Sa2 level, and the rust removal of power tools can reach Sa3 level. If a firm iron oxide scale adheres to the steel surface, the rust removal effect of the tools is not satisfactory, and the depth of the anchor pattern required for anti-corrosion cannot be reached.

3. Pickling generally adopts chemical and electrolytic methods. Anti-corrosion for pipelines only uses chemical pickling, which can remove oxide scale, rust, and old coatings. Sometimes it can be used as a reprocessing after sandblasting and rust removal. Chemical cleaning can make the surface achieve a certain degree of cleanliness and roughness, but its anchor pattern is shallow, which is easy to cause pollution to the environment.

4. Shot blasting is to make abrasives such as steel sand, steel shot, iron wire segments, and minerals to shot blast the surface of the steel pipe under the action of centrifugal force through a high-power motor, which can not only remove rust, oxides and dirt, but also achieve the required uniform roughness under the action of a violent impact and friction of abrasives. After rust removal by shot blasting, not only the physical adsorption on the surface of the pipe can be expanded, but also enhance the mechanical adhesion between the anti-corrosion layer and the surface of the pipe. Therefore, rust removal by shot blasting is an ideal method for anticorrosion of the pipeline. Generally speaking, shot blasting is mainly used for the inner surface treatment of pipes. Shot blasting is mainly used for the outer surface treatment of pipes.

5. Surface coating
The epoxy resin is modified with the prepared nano-cerium oxide to prepare a composite anti-corrosion coating, which is coated on the surface of the carbon steel pipe, forming a composite coasting with a thickness of 50 to 60μ. The effect of fungal corrosion can achieve long-term corrosion resistance even in a humid and multi-bacterial working environment.
