Portugal Announces A 262-Megawatt Floating PV Auction

News from the Minister of Environmental and Climate Action of Portugal said they have launched an auction of 262MW floating solar photovoltaic projects to be installed at seven dams across the country. The floating PV projects are expected to be fully operational by 2023. The auction will take place on April 4th, 2022, allowing prospective bidders to submit proposals no later than March 2nd, 2022.

Portugal speeds up the renewable energy projects with its decarbonization goals since the last coal-fired power plants were recently shut down, making Portugal the fourth country in the EU to switch its coal-fired power to renewable energy. At the same time, it may attract foreign investors and improve the country's environment and energy efficiency.
