The flanged insulation joint is a special fitting for cathodic protection systems of buried steel oil & gas pipelines. It electrically isolates pipeline sections to cut off stray currents and mitigate electrochemical corrosion.
Supplied complete with a copper jumper cable and spark gap equalizer protectors. It maintains high electrical insulation under normal operating conditions. In case of a lightning strike or transient overvoltage, the protective assembly instantly conducts to safeguard internal insulating components from breakdown damage.
Buried natural gas, crude oil and product pipelines, compressor stations and valve yards. Used to separate catholically-protected pipe segments from unprotected sections.
