When the twin seal orbit valve is fully open, the plug channel aligns with the valve body channel, ensuring minimal pressure drop. Rotating the handwheel causes the plug to move towards the valve, which in turn drives the valve disc to rotate 90 degrees. As the handwheel continues to turn, the plug is pressed down, forcing the valve disc against the valve seat to close. Rotating the handwheel in the opposite direction first raises the plug to release the valve disc from the seat. Continued rotation of the handwheel rotates the valve disc 90 degrees, aligning the plug channel with the valve body channel, leaving the valve fully open.
