An Orbit plug valve (commonly referred to as a rising stem plug valve or non-lubricated lift plug valve) is a high-performance rotary isolation valve that utilizes a patented tilt-and-turn mechanical action to eliminate seat friction and wear during operation. When opening, the valve stem first lifts the tapered plug vertically to pull it completely away from the seat before rotating it 90 degrees; during closing, the plug rotates into place without touching the seat and is then mechanically wedged down to achieve a positive, bubble-tight metal-to-metal seal.
