A lug style butterfly valve is a compact, quarter-turn rotary valve featuring threaded metal inserts, or "lugs", integrated directly into its outer casing to allow secure, independent bolting to adjacent piping flanges. Unlike wafer-style designs that are sandwiched between flanges, the lug configuration permits operators to safely disconnect and service one side of the downstream pipeline while the opposite side remains pressurized and fully operational. This dead-end service capability makes it a preferred choice for food, beverage, brewery, and pharmaceutical facilities requiring frequent partial system shutdowns or Clean-In-Place (CIP) maintenance.
