The galvanized square tube is a kind of hollow square section steel tube with square section shape and dimension, which is made of hot-rolled or cold-rolled galvanized steel strip or galvanized coil. After cold zigzag processing and high-frequency welding, the hot-dip galvanized square tube which is widely used now is processed by hot-dip galvanizing and multiple chemical reactions. And galvanized square rectangular tubes and standard square tubes are made of cold-formed hollow steel tubes by hot-dip galvanizing. The function of hot-dip galvanized square tubes is incomparable with other materials, such as its plasticity, toughness, strength and so on. It is also very firm after welding, and can be processed and manufactured in various environments. As the primary steel, steel pipes are widely used in our daily life. The support weight can be reduced and building materials can be saved by using steel pipes.
Classifications of galvanized square tubes
The galvanized square tubes can be divided into hot-dip galvanized square tubes and cold-dip galvanized square tubes according to the production process. It is because of the different additions of these two kinds of galvanized square tubes that they have many different physical and chemical properties. In general, they have many differences in strength, toughness and mechanical properties.
1. Hot-dip galvanized square tubes
The hot dip galvanized square tube is a kind of square tube which is made by welding after using the steel plate or steel strip curling and forming. On the basis of this kind of square tube, the square tube is placed in the hot dip galvanizing pool, then it formed after a series of chemical reactions. The production process of hot-dip galvanized square tube is relatively simple, and the production efficiency is very high. There are many varieties and specifications. Little equipment and capital are needed, which are suitable for the production of the manufacturers of small galvanized square tubes. However, the strength of this kind of steel tube is far lower than that of the seamless square tube.
2. Cold galvanized square tubes
The cold galvanizing square tube is to use the principle of cold galvanizing. Different from hot-dip galvanizing, cold-dip galvanizing coating electrochemical principles mainly are used for anti-corrosion. So it is necessary to ensure the full contact between zinc powder and steel, resulting in electrode potential difference. Then, we can know that steel surface treatment is very important.
Difference between cold galvanized square tubes and hot-dip galvanized square tubes
There are two kinds of galvanized square tubes, hot-dip galvanized square tubes and electro galvanized square tubes. There are many ways of hot dip galvanizing to make hot-dip galvanized square tubes, such as wet ways, dry ways, lead-zinc ways and oxidation-reduction ways. The main difference between different hot-dip galvanizing ways lies in how to activate the surface of steel tubes after acid leaching to improve the quality of galvanizing. At present, the dry process and oxidation-reduction process are mainly used in production. The results show that the surface of zinc coating is very smooth and compact. The microstructure is uniform. The mechanical properties and corrosion resistance are good. And the zinc consumption is 60% ~ 75% lower than that of hot dip galvanizing. There are some technical complexities in galvanizing, but this method must be used for single-sided coating, double-sided coating with different thickness of inner and outer surface coating.
