An extended body gate valve (extended bonnet or extended nipple gate valve) is a specialized forged steel linear isolation valve engineered with an elongated body neck or integral welded pipe extension to overcome critical insulation or structural access limitations. In high-temperature lines or sub-zero cryogenic systems, the extended body architecture moves the stem packing, bonnet joint, and manual/automated operator safely away from extreme line temperatures, preserving packing elasticity and preventing ice or heat damage. Alternatively, it allows for direct socket welding into dense, insulated piping headers without damaging the internal seating components during thermal installation.
