The function of ANSI B16.9 socket weld flange is quite similar to orifice flange, threaded flange, being used to connect two pipes. One end of socket weld flange is welded with pipe and the other end of sock weld connects with pipe by using bolts. Although socket weld has wide applicable range, it can be only used for high pressure low diameter pipe. Flanging face of socket weld flange includes raised face (RF), male and female face (MDM), tongue and groove face (TG) and ring joint face (RJ).
