Polyamide, which is PA are also called Nylon. It was first developed resins for fiber by an American company, which were industrialized in 1939. in the 1950s, it began to develop and produce injection molded products to replace metals to meet the requirements of lightweight and cost reduction of downstream industrial products. PA has good comprehensive properties, including mechanical properties, heat resistance, wear resistance, chemical resistance and self-lubrication, low friction coefficient, with flame retardant,easy to process,suitable for glass fiber and other fillers to enhance modification, improve performance and expand the range of application.
There are many kinds of PA, including PA6, PA66, PAll, PAl2, PA46, PA610, PA612, PAl010 etc. And many new varieties of semi-aromatic PA6T and special nylon developed in recent years. In order to meet different special needs, nylon blends with other polymers and alloys, etc. It becomes a substitute for many traditional materials such as metal and wood. The PA material used in the production of PA lenses is TR90(“Grilamid TR90”), which is made of PA12. It is a transparent nylon material developed by EMS of Switzerland. Its various properties are suitable for the production of frames and lenses, in recent years, TR90 is widely used in the optical field, both EMS nylon 12(PA12), has the following advantage:
Lightweight:85% nylon, reduces pressure on the bridge of the nose, making it lighter and more comfortable to wear.
High transmittance: Abbe coefficient is second only to glass, with high imaging clarity.
Impact resistance:more than 2 times of ordinary nylon material to effectively prevent injury to eyes caused by impact in motion.
High temperature: short period of time can withstand high temperature, not easy to melt and burn.
Safey: no release of chemical residues, in line with European requirements for good grade materials.
Radiation protection: 100% UV blocking.
