Advantages of Plastics:
1. Most plastics have strong erosion resistance and do not react with acid and alkali.
2. Plastic manufacturing cost is low.
3. Durable, waterproof and lightweight.
4. Easy to be molded into different shapes.
5. It is a good insulator.
6. Plastic can be used to prepare fuel oil and fuel gas, which can reduce the consumption of crude oil.

Disadvantages of Plastics:
1. When recycling waste plastics, classification is very difficult and economically disruptive.
2. Plastics is flammable and can produce toxic gases when burning. For example, toluene is produced when polystyrene burns. A small amount of this substance will lead to blindness, vomiting and other symptoms when inhaled. PVC combustion will also produce toxic hydrogen chloride gas. In addition to combustion, high temperature environment will cause plastic to decompose toxic components, such as benzene ring.
3. Plastic is made of petroleum refined products, while petroleum resources are limited.
4. Plastics cannot be decomposed naturally.
Due to the non-natural degradability of plastics, many animal of pollution caused by plastic at present. For example, monkeys, pelicans, dolphins and other animals in the zoo will swallow plastic bottles carelessly thrown by tourists, and finally die of pain due to indigestion. And it was full of all kinds of plastic garbage that could not be accommodated by the ocean. In the intestines of many dead seabird, all kinds of plastic that could not be digested has been found.
