The plastic resin used in the molding process will have an effect on the wear and tear of the tool. For example, glass-filled nylon than non-glass-filled materials can cause greater wear on the tool.
Once the maintenance interval is determined, you can determine and adjust the range of Preventive Maintenance (PM) in order to suit the production plan. If the mold is for mass production and the downtime is not much long, the PM can be actually executed there at the press without disassembling the mold. This satisfies the intermediate cleaning, but still requires a complete PM, during which the mold is disassembled and thoroughly cleaned periodically at intervals determined.
