Stamping die, also known as cold stamping die, is a kind of special technological equipment, which can be used to process the materials into spare parts in the cold press working. There are a lot of types of stamping die. It can be divided into three types according to working property, mold structure and mold material. What types do the stamping die have?
Classified by technological property
a. Blanking die: A mold is used to separate the material along with closure or open contour line. It includes: punching dies, pierce dies, cutting-off dies, lancing dies, trimming dies and parting dies, etc.
b. Bending die: A mold is used to help get the work piece with a certain angle and shape by making the sheet metal blank deform along with straight line(bending line).
c. Drawing die: A mold is used to make the sheet metal blank into hollow parts with open mouths or change the shapes and sizes of the hollow parts in a further step.
d. Forming die: A mold is to make the work blank or semi-finished products turn into the shape of punch and die shape on the drawing, while the material itself just has partial plastic deformation, such as expanding die, necking die, flaring die, embossing die, flanging die, and sizing die, etc.
e. Riveting die: A mold borrows the external force to make working parts connected or lapped in a certain order and way and then forms into an integral whole.
Classified by Process Combination Degree
a. Single operation die: A mold is only to finish a stamping process during one course in the press.
b. Compound die: A mold, only has a station, to finish two or more than two stamping processes in the same station during one course in the press.
c. Progressive die: A mold, has two or more stations in the feed-in direction of work blank and can finish two or more than two stamping processes in different stations during one course in the press.
d. Transfer die: A mold, with comprehensive advantages of single dies and progressive dies, uses manipulator transmission system to realize the fast transmission of product in the mode, greatly improving products efficiency, reducing product costs and making quality stable and reliable.
Classified by Product Processing Method
a. Punching and shearing mold: A mold completes the work by shearing action. The common types include: Cutting Dies, Blanking Dies, Punching Dies, Ripper Dies, Trimming Dies.
b. Air-bend mold: A mold is in a shape with a certain angle bent from a flat work blank. There are many types of air-bend molds depending on the part shapes, precision and production amount. It includes: common air-bend die, cam air-bend die, roll rim die, arc air-bend die.
c. Drawing die: A mold makes the flat work blank into seamless container with bottom.
d. Forming die: A mold changes the work blank shapes by variously partial deformation.
e. Compacting die: A mold makes the metal blank flow and deform by strong stress and turns it into required shapes.
