- Make sure that the text can be read easily and that the lines can be seen clearly.
- Name all the parts in order to prevent mixing them up. Ensure that the full title is used on the drawings, including any revisions, required materials and finishes. Write contact information on each drawing so as to make any issues remedied fast.
- A hand drawn is also accepted. It doesn't need to be made to scale, but its dimension and tolerance must be known clearly. Please keep in mind that mark the size from the same point in order to prevent tolerance accumulation.
- Pay attention to decimals and prevent using high specification tolerances, unless it's necessary.
- Don't specify the tap drill size unless it is necessary. The machinist knows about this very well.
- Provide both 3D models and 2D prints if possible. Ensure that the geometry matches with the dimension. Usually, a solid model is used for machine programming and the 2D print is used as a reference in the machining process.
- Avoid end mill chattering. The end mill well very well when they are rigid. The deeper the pocket is, the more vibratile the end mill becomes, resulting in poor finishes.
- Prevent designing parts which have the same size as the diameter of the typical end mill.
