The function of air cooled condenser

The function of condenser is the bring down the temperature of the gas from 130 degrees to 70 degrees, by indirectly exchanging the heat to the atmosphere. A fan blows air over the condenser and its fins through which the heat is exchanged to the air passing over it.

While a Water cooled condenser brings down the temperature of the gas to around 45 degrees centigrade, much faster and hence is more effective, but used only in large commercial airconditioning. The efficiency of water cooled system is high compared to air cooled system, but the convenience offered by air cooled system surpasses the water cooled system, at the cost of efficiency.
