Clime Capital Management Pte Ltd, through the South East Asia Clean Energy Facility (SEACEF), has invested in the development of a 500-MWp floating solar project in Vietnam that will be coupled with an up to 200-MWh battery storage system.
The Singapore-based investment manager announced the move on Monday, without disclosing the exact size of its investment. The project in question is located in Dong Nai Province and is being developed by Blueleaf Energy, another company based in Singapore, with over 500 MW of realized solar projects in the Asia-Pacific region and 2 GW globally.
"Vietnam's Power Development Plan for 2021 to 2030 may include significant thermal power capacities to address an impending power shortage as economic growth drives electrical demand. We believe advanced technologies like solar and storage peaking plants can help address Vietnam's power shortage issues in a cost-effective sustainable manner,"
commented Mason Wallick, CEO of Clime Capital.
